I'm New Here - What to Expect

When are your services?

Sunday school is offered each Sunday at 9:30 am.

Worship services are Sunday mornings at 10:45 am and Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm.  The morning and evening services are distinct with their own song service and message.  Morning worship tends to be geared for the general public including people who do not regularly attend church.  Evening service tends to be geared to regular church members and involves deeper teachings.

On Wednesday nights we offer several classes running from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.  These classes include adult Bible study, Youth (7th - 12th grade) and TeamKids (children).

Where are you located?

We are located in the country between Edmond and Guthrie Oklahoma about 1 1/2 mile south of the Lazy E Arena on Douglas Blvd.  Visit our Service Times & Location page for a map.

What do you believe?

We believe there is one God.  We believe the Holy Bible is God's inspired word.  We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of God's standards.  We believe God sent his son, Jesus, to pay for the sins of the world.  We believe that anyone who turns way from their sins and follows Jesus will be forgiven and receive salvation.  We believe that God speaks to his believers through the Holy Spirit.

Dress Code?

Our senior pastor wears a suit and tie.  Our youth pastor wears jeans (and sometimes shorts!!!).  They both stand on stage and behind the pulpit every single week.  We have church members who can afford very nice cloths and we have church members who cannot.  All we ask is that people dress modestly.

Where I should go when I get there?

Generally on a Sunday morning there will be greeters at the door.  Inform them that you are visiting and they will point you in the right direction.  If there is no greeter at the door, there are almost always church members in the fellowship hall before services.  The fellowship hall is behind the double doors to the left when you enter the building.

I like Woodcrest, how do I join?

You should start by talking to our pastor, Gerald Johnson.  You may contact him via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , telephone or talk to him before or after services.  Contact information is available on the left.  Candidates for membership do not have to have come from a Southern Baptist church, but should have been baptized if possible and be able to demonstrate their belief in Jesus Christ.

I Want to Be Baptized.  What is the process?

You should start by talking to our pastor, Gerald Johnson.  You may contact him via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , telephone or talk to him before or after services.  Contact information is available on the left.  Teens 7th - 12th grade may also contact our youth pastor, Keith Senti.  Candidates for baptism should be able to demonstrate their belief in Jesus Christ.

We believe that all Christians as followers of Jesus Christ should be baptized by immersion as Jesus was.  However, we believe baptism is an act of obedience and faith, not a ritual necessary for salvation.

We do not baptize babies or children who are too young to demonstrate a genuine commitment to Jesus Christ.  Baptism is an choice made by the individual, not the parent.  We do offer "baby dedications" if a parent wishes to dedicate their child to God by raising them in a righteous and Godly manner.

I would like to get involved.  How do I do that?

We have numerous opportunities for fellowship and service.

If you are looking for fellowship (visiting, friendship, advice, etc.) you should visit our Sunday school classes and additionally try to visit with our members before and after church.

If you are looking for service, we are always looking for Sunday school teachers, nursery workers, children's ministry workers, youth  ministry workers, musicians, soloists, choir members, greeters, ushers, people to maintain the property, people to change light bulbs, you name it...  If you have a God given talent that you would like to use for ministry, let our staff know and we'll try to put it to work.

I have kids.  What kind of children and youth programs do you offer?

We have a nursery service available for all regularly scheduled services.  Sunday school is available for K - 12th grades.  On Wednesdays we offer a children's ministry called TeamKids.  We offer Vacation Bible School every summer.

We also have a strong youth ministry.  Our youth ministry meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 for Sunday school and Wednesday nights at 6:30.  They can often be found in the back of the church playing sports or games before service.  Our youth group goes to Falls Creek every summer.

I have another question.

We will be glad to answer your questions.  Send your questions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call us at (405) 282-2046.
